18th birthday...

just turned 18 last month...

i'm currently 18 years and 1 week old

i didn't have a debut party since i'm not really a party person
my family tried to persuade me
but i told them "hindi ako marunong mag-entertain ng guests, nakakahiya naman sa mga iimbitahin natin..."
i don't see the importance of having a grand debut party
for me, there's nothing really special about turning 18
society just made it special

anyway
i still had a simple party
one of my aunts cooked spaghetti and another bought me a cake
i was still in school (singing Christmas songs) when the party started
my parents wanted to wait for me but some of the guests needed to go home early
when i arrived, my family was the only one there
my other relatives are just living near our house so they came over to greet me

after eating.. i studied a bit and then slept
it was not that special
well, i received more attention (compared to my 17th birthday)
but i'm happy
because my family is there and a lot of people remembered my birthday

last friday (Sept 1)
my blockmates surprised me
they gave me 18 roses and 18 brownies (from Red Ribbon Bakeshop)

they were supposed top prepare a surprise party but we've been really busy so they failed to
anyway, it really surprised me
i was really, really happy
my blockmates still love me even if i'm spending less time with them because of org stuff
anyway, i super love my block
college life is dull without them
super thanx guys!!!

anyway.. that's not the last surprise i got for my birthday
last saturday (Sept 2)
my org had an activity for the kids we were tutoring
it was a fun but tiring day
at the end of the afternoon program, the hosts called me to give the closing remarks
then... well to make the story short, the MC told the crowd that it was my birthday that week
everyone sang "happy birthday"
it was touching but all i could do was smile and smile and smile
one of muy orgmates even had an ube roll with candles on top
i blew the candles and everyone clapped their hands
i was really happy
but it still wasn't the end
when almost everyone had gone home, my orgamtes gave me another cake
this time it was a big rectangular black forest cake
it was so yummy
i ate it with my orgmates
we finished the whole cake in a matter of time


(this is how the cake looked like, well it should have been rectangular but you get the picture 'ayt? hehehe)

after eating the cake, they gave me a yellow bunny stuffed toy
it's so cute
i sleep with it every night
i hug it and play with it... the stuffed bunny made me feel like i'm still a child hahaha

anyway
these surprises really made my 18th birthday the most memorable one ever
i don't need a grand debut party
i only want to spend some time with the people who are dear to me

guys, thank you for all the things you've done for me
i won't forget this birthday
you showed me how special i am in you're lives
i hope i could show you how special all of you are to me
